Salman Shows well at Whilton

The May Club Championship event at Whilton Mill featured a large entry from many of the biggest Iame Cadet teams in the country, in preparation for the British Championships and the Ace of Clubs events coming soon.

Salman Shahid-Ali was put up against some of the most established talent in the class this weekend - as he continues to develop his craft in Iame Cadet.

Heat 1 saw Salman start from P6 - A rough start to the race saw him pushed to the back of the grid, recovering to 24th at the finish.

The second heat saw him start from 22nd. Salman made a good start and avoided contact at the opening two corners. By mid race, he had raced 17th position and setting a solid pace compared to the front runners. In the last couple of laps, the pack closed up and Salman was dropped to 20th position - where he finished at the chequer.

The final heat, starting from 10th position - Salman jumped to 8th in the opening skirmishes, before the chasing pack, filled with teammates working together dropped him down at the end of the straight. Salman managed to go with the pack however, setting further improved pace on his way to 14th position.

Starting the Final from a strong 15th place was a great feat given the competition he was up against. He maintained his position for the opening 3 laps, before making a decisive move up to 12th position. However on the next lap,, Salman was taken out of contention by another driver - dropping him to 27th,  which is sadly where he finished.

It was an unfortunate end to Salman's race, however he certainly showed his potential infront of some of the biggest teams in Cadet Karting.
