Making his MSA kart racing debut in the 2016 season, Salman is going to be competing in various Club Championships across the country, as he further builds his experience and race craft, ready to take on the National Championships in 2017.
The championships he will be racing in will be at local circuits Whilton Mill, Kimbolton and Shenington. These club events will be roughly once or twice a month, in order to keep him race sharp as the season proceeds.
Salman is racing in the Iame Cadet class, the most competitive and popular class in karting for drivers between 8 and 13 years old.
This class is renowned for being the best proven group for young drivers, to cut their teeth in the world of motorsport and more specifically in karting.
GW Motorsport is the race team that Salman competes with, a relatively new team in the indsutry, but have provided him with a solid platform, utilising a Wright Kart Cadet Chassis to help develop Salman as he races through the 2016 season.
At the end of the season, he will be moving up into racing Juniors, for the 12-16 age group - meaning larger karts and more powerful engines, something he is very much looking forward too.
Aside from Karting, Salman is a student at Aldenham and he enjoys playing football and photography as his hobbies alongside racing.
Keep up to date with Salman's progress via his website or social media, which he actively updates on a regular basis!
GW Motorsport driver Salman Shahid-Ali took a podium finish at Kimbolton in the IAME Cadet Class...
Salman Shahid-Ali took part in the sixth round of the Kimbolton Club Championship with his team GW Motorsport.
A strong qualifying saw Salman set the third fastest time of the session, giving him an inside start from the second row for his opening racing heat.
Salman made a great start to take 2nd place at the start of the race, before being shuffled down the pack at the first corner of the third lap. He recovered to 5th positon at the chequered flag.
5th position is where he would start the Pre-Final. Salman was unfortunate and pushed wide at the start, losing him alot of time to the leading group. Despite gaining one position to gain 7th position, he was unable to make inroads into the next group after being thwarted at the start.
Starting from 7th in the Final, Salman set about coming through the field. With much improved pace and a gritty determination, he made a brilliant start - taking 3rd positon by the second lap!
Racing with the leading group, Salman set the second fastest lap of the race - whilst holding his podium position to the chequered flag!
3rd position was a great result for the young GW Motorsport driver, in only his second meeting at the Kimbolton circuit this season - demonstrating much improved pace and race craft.
Salman will be aiming to carry this momentum to Whilton Mill on the 26-27 June.
